<get away>
I want to get away from the work and go on holidays!
We should get away from the idea otherwise we will make a mistake again.
The mother told her child to get away from video games.
あるものから逃れる、避ける、という意味です。

<set off>
We had to set off at 7pm to visit my parents.
What time did he set off for the airport last night.
Heavy rain last night was set off a landslide
The announcement that the company went bankrupt set off serious stock plunge.
出発する、し始める、原因を引き起こす、きっかけなる、
というような意味になります。

<stop off>
We stopped off at a seven-eleven before we drove a highway.
She stopped off in Milan for 1 day on her way to London.
途中で立ち寄る、途中下車する、という意味になります。

動詞１語にoff, onなどの言葉がつくと、
さらに意味をもつニュアンスの表現になります。

会話の中で少しずつ使っていき、使い方をものにしましょう。
